Massoud Kimiayi, one of the few active filmmakers from Irans pre-revolutionary
era, comes this controversial drama about the personal effect of the countrys
social reforms on one man. Amir serves 12 years in prison for killing the unfaithful
fiancée of his brotheran act he considered necessary to restore his
familys honor. In jail, he is treated like a hero, but, upon his release,
he finds that his country has changed. Amir is now considered barbaric. Authorities
yanked THE PROTEST from the big screen after only one month, revealing that this
